Hand carved from rich sese wood and colored with deep scarlet red and black paint, West African artist Winfred Ansah Okoampah presents this sculpture of a bird namedi Sankofa, /ian Adinkra symbol meaning “go back and get it.” The artists interpretation of the word is to “bring the good things from the past into the present” and this retrospective piece of art is also a beautiful representation of West African wildlife.
